The children of celebs have started an interesting conversation over kid's fashion and self expression.
We've all seen tons of pictures of Suri Cruise shopping in New York looking like a mini fashion model with her tiny heels and designer clothes and accessories. There are also pictures here and there of Shiloh Jolie Pitt looking more like her stylish father. She wears fedoras, neck ties and has short cropped hair. You can see pictures on Style Buzz.
What do you think should four year olds have $800 purses and wear lipstick or at the other end of the spectrum dress up like dad?
First of all, I think it is insane to have "style buzz" on the clothes worn by PRESCHOOLERS. Children's "fashion" should consist of comfortable clothes, that wash well and can be managed easily for the potty. If that is a dress, fine. If it is pants and a tee shirt, fine. I think kids should look like little kids ready to play and have fun, not mini grown ups out for lunch.
As far as the girly girl - tom boy question. I say as long as the kid is choosing its fine. When I see "hipster" parents (you know the ones that have a three year old with a faux hawk, rock and roll tee shirt and converse) it bugs me because you know the kid could care less. He is just a little walking picture of what his parents think is cool. I think it is probably hard for the girly girl mom to let her daughter be a tom boy or the jeans and tee-shirt mom to dress her girl in dresses constantly; but I think the "cool" parents are the ones that let their kids do the picking.
