You have heard that David Letterman admitted this week to having an affair with an intern and that Robert Halderman was arrested for allegedly trying to extort $2 million from Letterman to keep it quiet. Letterman did nothing illegal, although we suspect his wife, Regina Laskco, isnt too happy to hear about it since they were dating (not married yet) at the time.

It seems that David Letterman's affair was with 34-year-old Stephanie Birkitt. She started out as an intern and then moved up the ranks to join Letterman in skits.

The blackmailer is Robert Halderman, an Emmy award winning producer, writer and director. He was arrested and charged with first degree attempted grand larceny. Something tells me he'll be better known for this than the Emmy...

Birkitt used to live with Halderman... the plot thickens.

We shall see if other women on staff admit to affairs with Letterman.
